Christmas magic

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! Click Read More to see this year's photos.

I have always loved the holidays, especially Christmas: the shopping, decorating, singing of carols and sacred music, concerts, gift wrapping, card writing, parties, and hosting family and friends. I collect the clip-on glass birds (the ONLY thing I will ever collect). I love vintage, which brings to mind those loved ones who are no longer with us. I venture into those Christmas shops where there is so much bling and beauty. I don't have to buy a thing as I do not need a single decoration, but I still get that lift and feel like a kid on Christmas Eve. There's so much to see and take in: the lights, ribbons, glitter, reds, golds, silvers, and greens. I could have easily have been a decorator or florist. And this year, we even had a white Christmas, which is kind of rare in these parts.

Anyway, in this posting I have shown two views of my "big" tree. My good friend commented that the way I arranged the silver wired ribbon under the angel's billowy skirt made it look as if she were ascending into the heavens (for some reason, it brings to mind the "junior high" version of the old carol we used to sing to under our breath in chorus class, "angels we have heard are high").

Anyway, one of my biggest faults is my perfectionism, and when I look at the angel, it's not the billowy clouds of ribbon I note, but her disproportionately small head to the rest of her form). The star I had planned to use was just too heavy for the tree, so out came small head.
Here's a close-up view of the angel with her small head and billowy clouds of glory! This year I got out the bubble lights. Go vintage.
